1791 Classic Baseball Tournament
1791 Classic Baseball Tournament
The 1st Annual Berkshire Reign 1791 Classic brings elite 13U–16U teams to Berkshire County, Massachusetts for a competitive late-summer tournament. Teams are guaranteed three pool play games followed by bracket play, with efficient scheduling, strong competition, and championship trophies and medals awarded in each age division.
Baseball History in Berkshire County
Berkshire County holds a unique place in the history of baseball. In 1791, Pittsfield, Massachusetts is credited with one of the earliest documented references to the game, when a local ordinance prohibited playing baseball near the town meeting house to prevent damage to windows. This reference predates many formal rules of the game and highlights the Berkshires as one of baseball’s original homes.
Over the centuries, baseball has remained deeply rooted in the region, from historic town fields and sandlots to generations of youth, high school, and collegiate players who have carried the tradition forward. The 1791 Classic honors this legacy by bringing today’s players together on the same ground where the game has been played for more than two centuries.
